Training Civil Society Organizations in Mozambique to Counter Extremism and Violent Extremism
Hedayah partnered with Mecanismo de Apio a Sociadade Civil Foundation (MASC Foundation), a Civil Society Organization in Mozambique, to strengthen knowledge and skills in designing and implementing initiatives aimed at countering extremism and violent extremism.
MASC supports capacity-building for grassroots CSOs in areas such as governance, democracy, and peacebuilding. MASC identified a need to address the growing challenges of terrorism, extremism, and violent extremism in Mozambique and expressed interest in developing its own capacity in this area.
In March 2025, Hedayah developed a tailored program to strengthen MASC’s existing efforts in social cohesion and peacebuilding, while incorporating practical, accessible approaches to prevent and counter extremism and violent extremism. Hedayah delivered the training to MASC Foundation staff, helping ensure the program can continue locally and be led by the organization itself.
