STRIVE Global II

STRIVE Global II assists local organizations in the design of countering violent extremism programs, research, and provides grants for implementation and monitoring and evaluation.

STRIVE II will replicate the STRIVE Global program’s successes and impact in preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE). STRIVE achieves meaningful results in P/CVE at all levels: from the bottom up, supporting civil society organizations with grants to conduct research and implement contextually specific activities and from the top down, directly helping governments with capacity-building training relevant to their challenges. STRIVE Global achieved unparalleled access, continuing into STRIVE II across Central Asia, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and the South Caucasus.

STRIVE II assists civil society actors in conducting research creating an important evidence base for the local and regional P/CVE community. Furthermore, the program will fund local actors to develop programs based on such research and in line with each country’s National Action Plan for P/CVE. The distinct structure of STRIVE allows for mentoring throughout the program lifespan of promising civil society organizations. The approach enhances impact, creates sustainability, and sets up civil society actors for future successes.

STRIVE Global delivered the jointly developed Hedayah and Search for Common Ground P/CVE curriculum numerous times to governments and civil society organizations across the program’s geographical reach. STRIVE II will refresh and refine the training for those already familiar with the core tenants of P/CVE. The program will also introduce the curriculum to new entities. STRIVE II will achieve the successes of STRIVE Global’s by adapting the curriculum to the implementation context and local language.

Starting in STRIVE II is a new strategic and international component. STRIVE II will lead in implementing the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (GCTF) Initiative on Education for the P/CVE Conducive to Terrorism. The Initiative will bring together the international stakeholders to update good practices, informed by expert workshops, to produce research, toolkits and a curriculum for trainers.

The European Union supported STRIVE Global. It also generously supports STRIVE II.
