Education

We support educational institutions and teachers in their efforts to enhance youth resilience to extremism and violent extremism.

Hedayah is actively sharing best practices and implementing tailored capacity-building activities to support practitioners in strengthening their education and countering extremism and violent extremism strategies worldwide. We leverage formal and informal education to prevent radicalization and build resilience in communities most vulnerable to extremism and violent extremism.

As the implementing partner of the “Global Counter Terrorism Forum’s (GCTF) Initiative on Education for the Prevention and Countering of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism,” Hedayah builds upon the GCTF’s “Abu Dhabi Memorandum for Good Practices on Education and Countering Violent Extremism,” launched in 2014.

Through this initiative, we have facilitated collaboration among education and counterterrorism experts to address challenges, share knowledge, and explore innovative approaches for using education as a powerful tool to combat extremism, foster resilience, and curb recruitment. Hedayah has also developed a comprehensive research brief, a Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Toolkit, and a Training of Trainer’s curriculum to help practitioners and policymakers implement effective education-based counter-extremism programs.

Furthermore, Hedayah recognizes the importance of integrating both religious and conventional education in efforts to counter extremism and violent extremism. We collaborate with key educational stakeholders to launch programs that equip local educators with essential skills needed to integrate resilience-building, media literacy, and counter-narratives into their curricula.

To stay up-to-date with the latest research in countering extremism and violent extremism, we regularly engage with world-renowned partners and experts by participating in various activities, including conferences, workshops, and training events.

We are committed to expanding our countering extremism and violent extremism (CEVE), and education program through tailored capacity building activities for education practitioners across various regions. We also focus on identifying and evaluating the most successful approaches to create a lasting impact, using robust monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the success of our initiatives on the ground
