ONSA, Hedayah Int’l Hold 4-day Stakeholders Workshop to Review PF-NAP for PCVE
Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), in collaboration with Hedayah International Centre for Countering Extremism and Violent Extremism is holding a 4-day Stakeholders’ Workshop on Review of the Policy Framework and National Action Plan (PF-NAP) for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE), from 7-10 April, 2025, in Abuja.
In his keynote address, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, mni, represented by his Senior Special Assistant, Hajia Idayat Hassan, noted that Nigeria, like many other nations, has faced the devastating consequences of violent extremism, adding that the loss of lives, the destruction of communities, and the erosion of the nation’s social fabric serve as stark reminders of the urgent need for a comprehensive and effective strategy to counter these threats and provide actionable solutions.
He commended the National Coordinator, NCTC, Major General Adamu Garba Laka and his team for their dedication. He also appreciated the international partners, particularly Hedayah International, as well as Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, State Governments, International Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Society Organisations for their invaluable contributions to this process.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre, Office of the National Security Adviser, Maj Gen AG Laka, said the event marks a significant step in the country’s commitment to national security and stability. According to him, the gathering brought together key stakeholders from various sectors, united by a common goal to enhance the nation’s strategies to in addressing the evolving threat of violent extremism.
Also speaking, the EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Amb. Gautier Mignot, stated that the European Union is proud to be supporting Nigeria through a number of interventions to prevent and counter violent extremism, working with government, civil society organisations, as well as traditional and religious leaders, among others.
“Let us move forward together, confident in the EU’s unwavering commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity for Nigeria,” he called.
