International CVE Research Conference 2016

Date 6 December 2016
Location Indonesia
From 6-8 December 2016, Hedayah and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) co-organized the Annual International Countering Violent Extremism Research Conference 2016 held for the first time in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The conference was sponsored by the governments of Australia, Spain, and Norway, Coventry University, Edith Cowan University, the Royal United Services Institute, Swansea University, UN Women and Wahid Foundation.
The first two CVE Research Conferences 2014 and 2015 were held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, which produced two edited volumes of essays based on the speakers’ research and presentations.
The conference also helped identify good practices, insights, and effective local solutions to violent extremism and will look for ways to turn research outcomes into practical policies and program recommendations for practitioners and policymakers.
The conference will produce an edited volume of essays by the speakers, based on their presentations and research; a brief of all policy, research and program recommendations coming out of the conference, demarcated by region and theme, and a P/CVE research agenda, 2017-2018 to identify and bridge the existing knowledge and research gaps to include methodological issues and potential specific research projects.
