Senior Communications Officer
JOB SCOPE
The Senior Communications Officer supports the development and implementation of Hedayah’s corporate communications strategy and is responsible for translating Hedayah’s communications plans into actionable activities, schedules, campaigns, and deliverables. The role oversees the implementation of communications activities across the organization, supports program teams in achieving their communications objectives, and ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality communications outputs that strengthen Hedayah’s visibility, reputation, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership positioning.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Communications Officer supports the strategic planning, implementation, and delivery of Hedayah’s global communications activities and serves as a key focal point for internal and external communications coordination across the organization.
The role is responsible for developing high-quality communications products, supporting media and stakeholder engagement efforts, managing content production and digital communications activities, producing communications reports and analytics, monitoring visibility performance, and ensuring consistent application of Hedayah’s brand, messaging, and visibility standards across all organizational initiatives.
Working closely with the Director of Corporate Communications, the Senior Communications Officer contributes to strengthening Hedayah’s global visibility, reputation, stakeholder engagement, donor communications, and thought leadership positioning while ensuring communications activities effectively support organizational priorities, donor requirements, and programmatic objectives.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the Director of Corporate Communications in the development, implementation, and refinement of Hedayah’s communications strategy and associated communications plans, campaigns, calendars, deliverables, and performance indicators.
- Developing, implementing, and overseeing plans that align with Hedayah’s communications strategy to enhance Hedayah’s brand identity, messaging, and visibility through consistently highlighting the work of Hedayah, including monthly content calendars.
- Work closely with staff across all relevant departments to develop and implement communications plans and campaigns that support individual activities, longer-term programs, and organizational priorities.
- Plan and manage integrated communications campaigns across digital, social media, public relations, publications, events, and other communications channels.
- Keep abreast of trends, developments, emerging technologies, and opportunities relevant to communications, public affairs, media, and the prevention and countering of extremism and violent extremism sectors.
Content Development and Editorial Management
- Draft, edit, and quality assure a wide range of written communications products including press releases, articles, reports, newsletters, impact reports, publications, speeches, talking points, statements, key messages, website content, factsheets, presentations, and social media content.
- Create and edit basic visual and multimedia content in support of Hedayah’s communications activities, including photography, simple social media graphics, presentation slides, simple video content, and other branded communications assets using Canva and similar content creation tools.
- Support and oversee other content development with outsource suppliers across all communications deliverables and platforms.
- Ensure all communications products align with Hedayah’s messaging, editorial standards, visual identity, and brand guidelines.
- Maintain and contribute to Hedayah’s editorial calendar and content pipeline.
Publications and Knowledge Product Promotion
- Lead the development, editing, packaging, dissemination, and promotion of Hedayah’s publications, toolkits, policy briefs, research reports, annual reports, newsletters, and knowledge products internally or with outsource suppliers.
- Coordinate publication launch activities and promotional campaigns to maximize visibility, reach, and stakeholder engagement.
- Work closely with program teams to ensure effective translation of technical content into audience-focused communications products.
Digital Communications and Social Media
- Manage and publish content across Hedayah’s website, newsletters and social media channels.
- Develop and implement monthly content calendars and digital content plans.
- Monitor digital performance and generate regular analytics reports covering website traffic, audience engagement, content performance, follower growth, and campaign effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve digital performance through data-driven recommendations and best practices.
- Support the development and implementation of digital campaigns to strengthen awareness, engagement, and visibility.
Media Relations and Media Monitoring
- Support media outreach efforts.
- Draft press releases, interview briefs, media kits, Q&A documents, and media support materials.
- Monitor media coverage related to Hedayah and relevant thematic areas.
- Conduct media monitoring, environmental scanning, and sentiment analysis to identify opportunities, emerging issues, trends, and reputational considerations.
- Produce regular media monitoring reports, visibility summaries, and communications updates.
Monitoring, Reporting and Analytics
- Develop and maintain communications monitoring, reporting, and tracking systems.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc communications reports, dashboards, visibility reports, and performance summaries.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators across communications channels and activities.
- Measure the effectiveness and impact of communications campaigns, publications, events, media outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Identify lessons learned and recommend improvements to strengthen communications effectiveness and organizational visibility.
Partner, Donor and Stakeholder Visibility Management
- Track and report on donor visibility commitments, branding requirements, and communications deliverables across Hedayah’s projects and partnerships.
- Maintain partner visibility trackers and communications reporting mechanisms.
- Coordinate communications activities with donors, implementing partners, government entities, international organizations, consultants, and stakeholders where applicable to maximize the reach and impact of joint initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with donor branding, visibility, and communications requirements beside Hedayah’s.
Program Communications Support
- Serve as a communications focal point for assigned programs, projects, and donor-funded initiatives.
- Support program teams in developing communications plans, visibility strategies, success stories, impact narratives, and communications deliverables.
- Coordinate the collection of stories, testimonials, photographs, videos, lessons learned, and impact data from programs and activities.
- Support communications planning and implementation for conferences, workshops, launches, training programs, and high-level events.
Brand Management and Quality Assurance
- Ensure consistency and that all communications outputs comply with Hedayah’s visual identity, editorial standards, messaging framework, and communications policies.
- Oversee and quality assure communications products developed by internal teams, consultants, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Manage and maintain Hedayah’s media and communications asset archive to preserve institutional knowledge and maximize resource utilization.
Supplier and Agency Management
- Support the management with external communications suppliers, creative agencies, consultants, photographers, videographers, designers, translators, and digital service providers.
- Review supplier deliverables and ensure outputs meet agreed quality standards, timelines, and contractual requirements.
- Support procurement processes related to communications services and deliverables when required.
Internal Communications and Departmental Support
- Support internal communications activities and organizational announcements as required.
- Support the Director of Corporate Communications in managing departmental workflows, schedules, priorities, and implementation of CC strategy & plans.
- Represent the Corporate Communications Department in internal and external meetings when delegated.
- Act on behalf of the Director of Corporate Communications when delegated and provide support in managing departmental priorities and stakeholder engagements.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Director of Corporate Communications, Deputy Executive Director, or Executive Director.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Communications, or a related field.
- 4+ years in marketing, communications and/or creative/PR agencies. (Government and/or international experience is a plus).

Special Conditions That May Apply
- This role will be based full-time in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Applications to work remotely / from a different duty station will not be considered.
- The post holder may be required to travel internationally.
