Job Scope

The Senior Communications Officer supports the development and implementation of Hedayah’s communications strategy and is responsible for translating Hedayah’s communications yearly plan into scheduled tasks, overseeing the execution and working with colleagues from the programs department to achieve their program-level communications objectives.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Support the Director of Corporate Communications in the development of Hedayah’s communications strategy and associated plans, activities, calendars and deliverables that align with Hedayah’s overall vision and objectives.
  • Developing, implementing, and overseeing plans that align with Hedayah’s communications strategy to enhance Hedayah’s brand identity, messaging, and visibility through consistently highlighting the work of Hedayah, including monthly content calendars.
  • Work closely with staff in all relevant departments of Hedayah to develop and implement successful communications campaigns/plans for individual activities and longer-term programs, while also driving overall brand awareness and different target audience engagement.Plan and manage integrated communications campaigns across digital, social media, public relations, and offline channels.
  • Keep up with market trends in sectors related to countering extremism and violent extremism, to identify opportunities for growth and advise management accordingly.
  • Oversee the creation of content and its final delivered format across all Hedayah’s communications platforms, ensuring alignment with the brand’s tone of voice, messaging and visual guidelines.
  • Support the management of outsourced relationships and contractors.
  • Manage and publish content on websites, blogs, email campaigns, and social media channels.
  • Generate and analyze social media performance reports using social media platform analytics.
  • Drafting and editing press releases, briefing papers, speeches, statements and other materials to ensure that Hedayah’s mission and its strategic values are conveyed consistently, cohesively and coherently to build brand visibility and credibility.
  • Support and oversee content writing for different communications deliverables.
  • Working as part of a team to identify publicity, media and news angles for Hedayah’s programs and projects, pitching new communications ideas to Hedayah’s departments for specific projects and programs and taking the lead in framing the communications and positioning.
  • Manage Hedayah’s media/assets archive system, to guard brand legacy and maximize budget spend.
  • Editing technical and official documents in a compelling and engaging manner, and generating engaging communications products based on technical and official documents.
  • Support internal communications activities when requested.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and partners in communicating Hedayah’s joint initiatives, to maximize exposure and promote collaboration.
  • Working closely with other team members of the Corporate Communications Department to ensure delivery and consistency of communications plans.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Corporate Communications, the Deputy Executive Director or the Executive Director, as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years in marketing, communications and/or creative/PR agencies. (Government and/or international experience is a plus).

Special Conditions

This position is based in Abu Dhabi. The post holder may be required to travel internationally.
