National Strategies, Action Plans & Policy Advice
We assist governments in developing and implementing comprehensive National Action Plans and Strategies for countering extremism and violent extremism.
Hedayah works to facilitate input from relevant cross-government and civil society actors, to help shape national strategies and action plans that are inclusive and locally relevant, informed by international good practices, and align government and civil society actors to work together to effectively reduce the threat of extremism.
Hedayah’s expertise in supporting national strategies, action plans and policies includes providing expert guidance and strategic recommendations to help governments craft, revise, and strengthen policies as well as capacity building and training, multi-agency coordination support, and the development of communication strategies that complement a country’s National Action Plan. This approach has led countries to seek Hedayah’s direct support.
Strategies and Action Plans are important tools to support national and local governments, international organizations, and civil society organizations in the coordination and implementation of efforts to address extremism and violent extremism. This was highlighted in the United Nations Secretary-General’s Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism (2015) which recommended that “each Member State should consider developing a national plan of action to prevent violent extremism which sets national priorities for addressing the local drivers”.
